Gretchen introduced me to making jewelry. She leaped into the hobby with enthusiasm and had amassed a large quantity of tools, wire, beads, and baubles. For a time, she made gifts of jewelry, some of which I have remixed.
I purchased a number of jewelry-making items myself. We spent many pleasant afternoons in craft stores and at the kitchen table satisfying a desire to create beautiful things. She owned a large collection of her grandmother's jewelry; we took earrings and transformed them into rings for our fingers.
The necklace in the center carries a replica of one of her paintings, a very tangible reminder of her talents and a way to wear her close to my heart.
